My badge for RTX2012 came in the mail today. Can’t wait for July 7-8.
Veteran Portrait Project
My involvement in the Veteran Portrait Project is coming to an end. I had a great time working with Henry on his project. The video I created for this project consists of two separate portraits.
Semester is coming to an end fast and that means these videos need finished. I have another edit of the shoot with Kyle and a new footage from what we shot last week.
First off, here’s a partial edit of a different shoot. This conversation in this shoot was more directed than in previous shoots.
I left out a part that was on the graphic side, but I might include it in the final edit.
We recently put on a mock shoot to try and get around some technical issues.
A majority of the problem I think comes from the mic not facing who is speaking. We’ve started to look at alternative solutions like getting a boom pole and extension for the mic.
All I have to show for this week is a rough edit

Above is a few shots that I planned out for the videos.
My plan for this project is to keep each video separate instead of having one longer video. I want to focus on Henry’s interaction with the veterans and story exchange more than Henry’s project about the war trophies/souvenirs.
I planned to have the reedit finished by this week, but I can’t seem to locate the original video clips to add to the video.
I’ve been watching some documentaries for inspiration for this project. The one I liked the most was Restrepo.
For this next project I want to continue on where I left of with part of the last project. I will keep on documenting Henry’s process on his portrait project as well as his interaction between the veterans he is shooting.

Veteran Shoot
I plan on having different videos for each person Henry is going to photograph. At the end of the project I might edit the videos together in a longer video. I’m also thinking of reediting the first veteran video as well.
For next Thursday I hope to have a new video but If we can’t photograph anyone this week I’ll work on the reedit of the first shoot.
The past few weeks has been a pretty fun experience. Here are the two videos I shot for my part of the project.
Cat Date
Veteran Shoot
I like to think that the three of us got to know each other a little more from this project. It was great working Henry and Hannah over the past three weeks. Can’t wait to see what we have to do next.
